Skin55 is seeking a compassionate, patient-focused Registered Nurse to join our growing clinical team as a Registered Nurse (Band 5/6). This is an exciting opportunity for a nurse with experience, or a strong interest, in dermatology, skin cancer, patch testing, UVB phototherapy, photodynamic therapy (PDT), and surgical nursing to play a key role in delivering exceptional patient care within a specialist skin health environment.

You will provide expert support to patients throughout their treatment journey, acting as a trusted point of contact while contributing to the delivery of outstanding clinical services. You will work alongside experienced consultants and multidisciplinary teams in a modern, patient-centred setting.

This role is ideal for a motivated nurse who is passionate about improving patient outcomes, committed to clinical excellence, and enjoys supporting the development of colleagues.

Please note: This is a uniformed role, and the successful candidate will be required to wear the uniform provided by Skin55.

Key Responsibilities

 

Clinical Care and Patient Support

Deliver safe, effective, and evidence-based nursing care in accordance with NMC standards and Skin55 policies.

Act as a key point of contact for patients and their families, providing support, education, and guidance throughout their treatment journey.

Assist with a range of clinical procedures, including:

  • Minor surgical procedures
  • Laser treatments
  • Phototherapy (UVB)
  • Photodynamic therapy (PDT)
  • Patch testing

Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential patient records and documentation.

Administer and supply medications in line with clinical protocols and regulatory requirements.


Leadership and Professional Development

Act as a positive role model for junior nursing staff.

Support the induction, training, and development of new and temporary team members.

Share knowledge, best practice, and clinical expertise within the team.

Take responsibility for your own continuing professional development and learning.


Communication and Patient Advocacy

Build strong relationships with patients, families, consultants, and colleagues.

Communicate effectively and sensitively, adapting your approach to meet individual patient needs.

Advocate for patients, ensuring their choices, beliefs, dignity, and preferences are respected.

Assist in resolving patient concerns and complaints professionally, escalating issues when appropriate.


Safety, Quality, and Infection Control

Uphold the highest standards of infection prevention and control.

Promote a safe and welcoming environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

Identify, report, and escalate clinical incidents or safety concerns promptly.


Resource and Equipment Management

Assist with stock control, equipment maintenance, and clinical supply management.

Support the efficient use of resources and contribute to reducing waste across the service.


About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Essential

Registered Nurse qualification with current NMC registration.

Experience in Phototherapy (UVB).

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

A compassionate, patient-centred approach to care.

The ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.

Desirable

Experience in dermatology, PDT, oncology, skin cancer services, or surgical nursing.

Experience supporting patients through complex treatment pathways.

Previous mentoring or supervisory experience.

Skin Cancer Specialist Nurse – Check4Cancer

Due to our expanding skin services, Check4Cancer is recruiting Specialist Skin Cancer Nurses. This role offers an exciting opportunity to become an integral part of the Check4Cancer team, working in a nurse-led, autonomous environment alongside a cohesive, experienced multidisciplinary team (MDT).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess patients for precancerous and cancerous skin lesions.
  • Capture high-quality images of suspicious lesions for telemedicine diagnosis.
  • Educate patients on skin health and preventative care strategies.
  • Provide holistic, patient-centered care, acting as an advocate for patients.

Support and Development:

  • Work alongside skin nurses, Consultant Dermatologists, and Consultant Plastic Surgeons.
  • Report to the Clinical Services Manager.
  • Participate in a comprehensive training program and competency assessments before beginning clinic duties.
  • Attend quarterly nurse meetings and regular CPD (Continuing Professional Development) events.

About Check4Cancer:

  • Offers cancer screening for bowel, breast, cervical, lung, prostate, and skin cancers.
  • Provides diagnostic pathways for skin, breast, and prostate cancers.
  • Based in Cambridge, serving private individuals, UK insurance providers, and the corporate sector.

Benefits and Requirements:

  • Competitive salary (Equivalent to Band 8, based on experience), including pension and sick leave.

  • Full-time and part-time contracts with flexible working days and hours (37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday).
  • Adult registered nurse with a valid NMC pin required.
  • Membership in BDNG and RCN required.
  • Experience in dermoscopy and lesion recognition necessary.
  • Ideally a car driver or have good transport links for clinic travel (travel expenses to and from clinics will be covered).
